Future Teacher Scholarship Programs for Science Education: Rationale for Teaching in Perceived High-Need Areas.

Describes a study designed to identify the reasons that teacher scholarship recipients (n=58) chose science teaching as a career. Results indicate that these teachers chose their field of study because they want to teach the subject matter; they were committed to social change; and they liked to work with and be a positive force in the lives of children.
