The Effects of Cryotherapy and PNF Stretching Techniques on Hip Extensor Flexibility in Elderly Females.
Rosenberg, Beth S.; And Others
Journal of Physical Education and Sport Sciences, v2 n2 p31-36 Jul 1990
Study determined whether three proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation flexibility maneuvers (to increase hamstring length) were as effective in 31 older females as in younger subjects. Cryotherapy intervention was also employed. Results indicated contract-relax and slow-reversal-hold-relax procedures were superior to static stretching; cryotherapy had no significant effect on range of motion. (SM)
