Findings revealed that a relationship existed between the principals' knowledge of and support for work-study programs, and their role performances with regard to such programs. These variables were also found to be directly related to the effectiveness of the work-study programs. (Author/DLS)

Young, Sheryl; And Others – Education and Training of the Mentally Retarded, 1979
Ninety-six normal fourth graders were studied to determine the extent that their ratings of a handicap-labeled videotaped peer could be altered by the assignment of positive attributes. Results suggested that positive attributes produced favorable peer ratings when compared to neutral ones. (Author/DLS)

A study investigated the effectiveness of a therapeutic motor development program in increasing the social adjustment and peer acceptance of a mainstreamed 10-year-old educable mentally retarded boy. The motor development program was based on the games analysis model and involved the S and 13 of his normal classmates. (Author/DLS)

A survey of 1,142 normal students in grades 4 through 12 indicated that they knew very little about mental retardation and the mentally retarded. Only about half of the respondents made reference to "subaverage general intellectual functioning," while references to physical impairment were frequent. (DLS)
