This study of societal attitudes in Tanzania, based on interviews and examination of a collection of proverbs, riddles, and poems, determined that persons with disabilities are not marginalized and that principles of normalization and integration underlie traditional community living. (SW)

This study assessed stress experienced over 7 years by 93 parents of children with intellectual disabilities. The use of a computer-based expert system (the HISAT Advisor) to make decisions about educational placements of students who are deaf and hard of hearing was compared to placement decisions made by teachers.
