Two Different Methods of Assessing Practical Skills at an Advanced Level Examination in Biology: Demonstration of Construct Validity or the Appraisal of Non-Events?
Brown, C. R.; And Others
Research in Science and Technological Education, v10 n1 p23-35 1992
Scrutinizes the assessment of students' practical skills, in an honors-level biology examination, for construct validity utilizing both correlational and factor analytical methods to explore relationships between students' practical (laboratory) and theoretical (written) performances. Indicates that teacher assessment of practical skills resulted in greater construct validity than did the overall practical examination. (26 references) (JJK)
