Cross-Age Tutoring in Mathematics: Sixth Graders Helping Students Who Are Moderately Handicapped.
Vacc, Nancy Nesbitt; Cannon, Sally J.
Education and Training in Mental Retardation, v26 n1 p89-97 Mar 1991
Sixth grade students tutored four moderately mentally handicapped elementary students in mathematics. Results indicated increased math skills. Teachers rated the program positively and reported increased academic and/or social achievement among subjects. Tutors and tutees reported positive attitudes toward each other. A two-year follow-up study found that skill maintenance varied across subjects. (Author/PB)
