Barriers of Using Educational Games in Jordanian Public Schools

This study aimed to identify the barriers that prevent Jordanian teachers at primary schools in Jerash governorate from using computer games into the classroom. To achieve this goal, a descriptive analysis procedure was used in this study. The sample of study consisted of (240) English, Mathematics and social studies teachers. The questionnaire was distributed to the sample's members of the academic year 2012-2013. The results of the study showed that Jordanian teachers in primary schools face different types of barriers once they use computer games for educational purposes such as; Student's lack of readiness and limited budget. Moreover, the results of the study revealed that there were statistical significant, concerning the obstacles that teachers face due to gender, teaching experience, the subject matter taught; these differences are in favor of female, 10 & above years of experience and the social studies. Finally, the study recommended that it is necessary to activate using computer games in Jordanian public schools especially for the primary stage.
