Preschoolers' Informal Peer Contacts.
Thompson, Carol
Early Child Development and Care, v171 p75-89 Dec 2001
Examined the extent and characteristics of peer contact among 10 Australian kindergartners. Found that girls had greater peer contact opportunities than boys. Few peer contacts resulted from kindergarten or other organized activities; the majority were long-term relationships with relatives or children of family friends. Peer contact opportunities were predominantly influenced by availability of peers in the family social network. (Author/KB)
