Chen, Fu-Mei; Luster Tom
Early Child Development and Care, v172 n5 p413-30 Oct 2002
This study examined factors related to authoritarian and authoritative parenting practices among 463 Chinese mothers with preschoolers in Taiwan. Questionnaire findings suggested that maternal depression, child temperament, and degree of parenting daily hassles might have cross-culturally universal influence on parenting practices. Chinese parents' use of both authoritarian and authoritative parenting was embedded in traditional Chinese parenting beliefs. (Author/KB)
