A Study of Children's Difficulties in Transition to School in Hong Kong.
Chun, Wong Ngai
Early Child Development and Care, v173 n1 p83-96 Feb 2003
Examined perspectives of Hong Kong parents, primary school teachers, and children regarding transition to primary schools either with an attached preschool or serving neighborhood preschools. Found that "settling in" difficulties were overcome after 1 or 2 months. Nearly all children preferred the primary school by the mid-October interview. By the mid-June interview, some children wished to return to their kindergartens where they claimed they had no pressure for study. (Author/KB)
