Touch among Children at Nursery School.
Cigales, Maricel; And Others
Early Child Development and Care, v126 p101-10 Dec 1996
Compared direction and purpose of touch, type, body area touched, and responses to touch for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers observed in early childhood classrooms. Found that infants received more touch than older children. Touch involving "vulnerable body parts" and negative responses occurred more often among toddlers than preschoolers. Task-related touch occurred less often among preschoolers than for other children. (KDFB)
