Reflections on Conceptual Tempo: Relationship Between Cognitive Style and Performance as a Function of Task Characteristics
Bush, Ellen S.; Dweck, Carol S.
Developmental Psychology, 11, 5, 567-574, Sep 75
Children classified as high-anxious reflective in cognitive style were found to perform as well on speeded tasks as low-anxious reflective children and both groups were found to be faster and more accurate than impulsive children. This suggests redefining cognitive style to stress the strategies used rather than predispositions for particular conceptual tempos. (JMB)
