This study assessed the influence of age and ability on linear syllogistic reasoning in early adolescence by presenting bright and average 11- and 13-year-olds with 64, 3-term series problems. This study examined the stranger reactions of 18-month-old children in three types of mother/stranger social contexts: (1) no interaction, (2) conversation only, or (3) playing cards. Endsley, Richard C.; Clarey, Susan A. – Developmental Psychology, 1975
The results of this study indicate that answering young children's questions increases the frequency with which they ask questions. The evidence also suggests that children use questions partially as a means of maintaining social contact and attention with a friendly adult after their information seeking efforts have been exhausted.
