Stamps, Leighton E.; Porges, Stephen W. – Developmental Psychology, 1975
Trace conditioning was evaluated in newborn infants by measurements of heart rate responses to a conditioned stimulus in anticipation of or in absence of the unconditioned stimulus. Data suggest females have higher levels of heart rate variability than males, which parallels their greater conditionability. (GO)

Lester, Barry M. – Developmental Psychology, 1975
Two experiments are reported in which cardiac habituation of the orienting response to pure tone stimuli was studied in well-nourished and malnourished male Guatemalan infants. Results indicated a fundamental attentional deficit in the malnourished group. (GO)

Marcus, Robert F. – Developmental Psychology, 1975
Parents were shown videotapes of boys and girls performing dependent and independent behaviors and were asked how they would respond to the child observed. Interaction process analysis of responses indicated fifferent patterns of responding for fathers and mothers. (GO)

Novak, M. A.; Harlow, H. F. – Developmental Psychology, 1975
This experiment demonstrated that 12-month-old monkeys reared in social isolation developed appropriate species-typical behavior through the use of adaptation, self pacing of visual input and exposure to younger "therapist" monkeys. A critical period of socialization is not indicated in the rhesus monkey. (GO)

Fry, P. S. – Developmental Psychology, 1975
A total of 57 7- and 8-year-old subjects matched on measures of socioeconomic status, locus of control, need for social approval, and self esteem were assigned to two affect conditions and one control condition.
