Sackett, Gene P.; And Others – Developmental Psychology, 1976
Social and nonsocial behaviors of infant rhesus (macaca mulatta) and pigtail (M. nemestrina) monkeys reared in total social isolation were compared with those of socialized controls. Results question the generality of rhesus total isolate behavior as a model for some human problems. (Author/SB)

Winner, Ellen; And Others – Developmental Psychology, 1976
Two tasks were used to assess the capacities of 6- to 14-year-old children to interpret metaphoric statements. Results suggest certain cognitive prerequisites of mature metaphoric comprehension and help to clarify the ontogenetic relations among the abilities to produce, comprehend, and explicate the rationale of metaphoric language. Robinson, E. J.; Robinson, W. P. – Developmental Psychology, 1976
Each child played the role of both speaker and listener in a communication game with the experimenter. Failures in communication were made to occur, and the child was asked to judge whose fault these were and why. Findings cast doubt on accuracy of Piaget's account of the breakdown of egocentrism.
