The Relation of Childhood Personality Types to Adolescent Behavior and Development: A Longitudinal Study of Icelandic Children.
Hart, Daniel; And Others
Developmental Psychology, v33 n2 p195-205 Mar 1997
Identified resilient, overcontrolled, and undercontrolled personality types among 7-year-old children. Found that resilient children, throughout adolescence, had higher academic achievement and fewer concentration problems and they more quickly developed a sophisticated understanding of friendship and an internal locus of control than the other children. Overcontrolled children, throughout adolescence, exhibited more social withdrawal and lower self-esteem than the other children.(BC)
