A Comparison of the Geometric Reasoning of Students Attending Israeli Ultraorthodox and Mainstream Schools.
Dembo, Yoram; And Others
Developmental Psychology, v33 n1 p92-103 Jan 1997
Examined effects of schooling on a geometric misconception by comparing the performance of Israeli students attending ultraorthodox schools with that of peers attending mainstream schools. Found that mainstream students did better on the misconception task, but the advantage of the mainstream students was limited to mathematics. Factors of both mainstream and orthodox schooling may have contributed to these findings. (MOK)
