Toddler and Childhood Temperament: Expanded Content, Stronger Genetic Evidence, New Evidence for the Importance of Environment.
Goldsmith, H. Hill; Buss, Kristin A.; Lemery, Kathryn S.
Developmental Psychology, v33 n6 p891-905 Nov 1997
Studied 715 twins and singletons to document heritable influences on temperament during toddler and preschool ages. Found substantial shared environmental influence on positive affect and additive genetic influence on emotion regulation. Intraclass correlations from many scales showed no evidence of "too-low" dizygotic correlations that implied contrast effects. Suggested that psychometric characteristics of questionnaires affect biometric influences. (Author/KB)
