Measurement of Two Social Competence Aspects in Middle Childhood.
Rydell, Ann-Margret; Hagekull, Berit; Bohlin, Gunilla
Developmental Psychology, v33 n5 p824-33 Sep 1997
Examined the psychometric properties of a social competence scale for school-age children. Factor analyses identified two moderately correlated competence aspects, Prosocial Orientation and Social Initiative. Scale showed reliability across one year, and concurrent and predictive validity in interrater agreement; also corresponded with observed peer behavior, and discriminated between children of different peer status.
