Relationships between Parenting and Adolescent Adjustment Over Time: Genetic and Environmental Contributions.
Neiderhiser, Jenae M.; Reiss, David; Plomin, Robert; Hetherington, E. Mavis
Developmental Psychology, v35 n3 p680-92 May 1999
Examined the genetic and environmental contributions to the predictive association between parenting and adolescent adjustment in identical and fraternal twins, and full, half, and genetically unrelated siblings in nondivorced and stepfamilies. Found that cross-lagged associations between parental conflict-negativity and adolescent antisocial behavior and depressive symptoms can be explained primarily by genetic factors. (Author/KB)
