A Multivariate Model of Gender Differences in Adolescents' Internalizing and Externalizing Problems.
Leadbeater, Bonnie J.; Kuperminc, Gabriel P.; Blatt, Sidney J.; Hertzog, Christopher
Developmental Psychology, v35 n5 p1268-82 Sep 1999
Tested model of gender's moderating effects on behavior problems among early adolescents. Found that increasing girls' internalizing symptoms were partly explained by greater stability in girls' interpersonal vulnerabilities and greater magnitude in coefficients linking girls' relationships with parents and peers and internalizing problems. Boys' risks for externalizing problems were partly explained by greater stability in boys' vulnerability to self-criticism. (Author/KB)
