Parent-Child Mutuality in Early Childhood: Two Behavioral Genetic Studies.
Deater-Deckard, Kirby; O'Connor, Thomas G.
Developmental Psychology, v36 n5 p561-70 Sep 2000
Used quantitative genetic design to examine between- and within-family variations and gene-environment processes in parent-child mutuality among 3-year-old identical and same-sex fraternal twins. Found that greater mutuality was associated with higher socioeconomic status. Moderate sibling similarity in parent-child mutuality was accounted for by child genetic similarity. Findings were replicated in second study of pairs of adoptive and biological siblings. (Author/KB)
