In Vitro Fertilization and the Family: Quality of Parenting, Family Functioning, and Child Psychosocial Adjustment.
Hahn, Chun-Shin; DiPietro, Janet A.
Developmental Psychology, v37 n1 p37-48 Jan 2001
Examined associations between in vitro fertilization (IVF) and parenting quality, family functioning, and emotional/behavioral adjustment of 3- to 7-year-olds. Found that IVF mothers reported greater protectiveness than mothers of naturally conceived children. Teachers rated IVF mothers as displaying greater warmth but not overprotective or intrusive parenting behaviors, and children of IVF as having fewer behavioral problems than control children.
