African-Americans in Community Colleges. UCLA Community College Bibliography
McJunkin, Kyle Stewart
Community College Journal of Research and Practice, v29 n3 p251-256 Mar 2005
Recent literature on African Americans students at the community college level represents an eclectic body of material. Broadly speaking, this literature has focused on questions concerning African American learning styles, cultural determinants to success, retention issues, and comparative achievement with other minority groups. While the citations in this annotated bibliography are a representation of these seemingly disparate topics, they do address the central role that community colleges continue to play in providing educational and vocational opportunities for African Americans. By reviewing this literature carefully, practitioners will be exposed to information that will enable them to address the educational needs of their African American students.
