Hanson, Chad M.
Community College Journal of Research and Practice, v31 n7 p547-561 Jul 2007
In this article, 6 key texts from the literature of the learning college movement are examined with the technique of critical discourse analysis. The rhetorical strategies found in the literature are discussed from the standpoint of critical linguistics, and excerpts from the texts are presented as examples of the discursive practices favored by learning advocates. The cultural and political implications of the movement are also addressed, as the learning college movement is placed in historical context. (Contains 2 tables.)
