Describes a study examining faculty perceptions of two- and four-year college views of excellence using the 1989-90 Higher Education Research Institute Faculty Survey. Indicates that two-year colleges were perceived to place a lower priority on excellence as reputation, as resources, or as outcomes. Promotes talent development as a promising view of excellence for two-year colleges. (MAB)
