Describes a study of environmental conditions that influence student transfer activity and the effects of interrelationships between external and institutional conditions, using data from 78 community colleges involved in the 1990 Transfer Assembly. Indicates that community colleges with larger percentages of transfer students are located in high-income areas in states with formalized articulation agreements. (26 citations). (MAB)
