Analyzes the characteristics of "good" teaching as described by community college advocates from the 1920s to the 1980s, determining the top 10 characteristics. Concludes that criteria for good teaching were found primarily in opinion-based, rather than research-based, publications and that there is very little consensus among practitioners regarding effective teaching.
