If librarians want to be given faculty status, they must become more involved in the instructional process. Part of that responsibility is to help inform faculty of the ineffectiveness of the lecture-textbook method in educating undergraduate students and to demonstrate that practical and constructive alternatives exist. In a study of 22 male and 3 female faculty from various disciplines, most agreed that information and assistance were needed for faculty career development. Opinions of existing programs and facilities varied greatly. Opportunities to process and maximize benefits of such events as travel and leaves were welcomed. (MSE)

Twelve methods to enhance the learning of college students and at the same time increase their oral communication skills and classroom participation are presented. Five approaches to grading student tests are described and their advantages and limitations are examined. It is suggested that the fifth approach, which takes into account the general ability level of the class and applies predetermined percentages to determine the number of students receiving each grade, is the most rational approach.
