Energizing the Introduction to Education Classroom Through Experiential Learning.
Montgomery, Kathleen; Deery, Cathleen; Brown, Susan
Journal on Excellence in College Teaching, v7 n2 p69-80 1996
In a foundations-of-education course based on experiential learning, 120 college students formed partnerships with elementary school children and, using letters and interviews, asked them about teaching and learning. It was found that the students clarified their educational philosophies, enhanced communication skills, and overcame preconceptions about young learners. The approach energized students and personalized understanding of educational issues. (Author/MSE)
