Outbreak!: Teaching Clinical and Diagnostic Microbiology Methodologies with an Interactive Online Game
Clark, Sherri; Smith, Geoffrey Battle
Journal of College Science Teaching, v34 n1 p30-33 Sep 2004
Outbreak! is an online, interactive educational game that helps students and teachers learn and evaluate clinical microbiology skills. When the game was used in introductory microbiology laboratories, qualitative evaluation by students showed very positive responses and increased learning. Outbreak! allows students to design diagnostic tests and assay for the presence of human pathogens without exposure risk. Students and educators find the game to be fun and useful.
