An Assessment of Extramural Activities That Encourage Support for the Liberal Arts.
McNamara, Kristy Maher; Cover, J. Daniel
College Student Journal, v33 n4 p594-607 Dec 1999
A survey of undergraduate students (n=473) from a small liberal arts university evaluated several independent variables (gender, community service, membership in campus organizations, and out-of-class experiences) in terms of goals associated with a liberal education. Analysis indicated that gender and type of extramural activities (i.e., student leadership or volunteer community service) affected attitudes toward general education requirements. (DB)
