College Students' Perceptions about Career Fairs: What They Like, What They Gain, and What They Want to See

College instructors use a variety of strategies to increase the likelihood that their students will find jobs. Career fairs are just one strategy designed to help students think more clearly about their career paths. It has traditionally been assumed that students will benefit from participating in a career fair simply from attending one. As such, very little research has examined the benefits and students perception of career fairs. To address this void in the literature, the current study examines the experience of 93 students who recently attended a career fair. Attention is given to what they liked about the career fair, what they believed they gained from it, what they did not like about it, and what they wanted to see in future career fairs.
