Illinois Community College Board
The mission of the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB), as the state coordinating board for community colleges, is to administer the Public Community College Act in a manner that maximizes the ability of the community colleges to serve their communities, promotes cooperation within the system, and accommodates those State of Illinois initiatives that are appropriate for community colleges. The Illinois Community College Board oversees the 48 public community colleges in the 39 community college districts and one community college center and has statutory responsibility for the statewide planning and coordination of the community college system. This document reports on ICCB's activities in helping the state's community colleges provide high-quality, accessible, and cost-effective educational opportunities for the individuals and communities they serve. These include paraprofessional preparation, dual credit for high school students, accountability initiatives, enhancing online education, establishment of an international presence, adult and career education, Critical Skill Shortages Initiatives, family literacy, and other programs and initiatives.
