After 10-Year Decline, Number of Black Ph.D.'s Begins to Increase.
Leatherman, Courtney
Chronicle of Higher Education, v38 n36 pA1,18 May 13 1992
African-American students earned 933 of the Ph.D.s earned in 1991, 4 percent more than in 1990 and 13.6 percent more than in 1989. The number still falls short of the 1981 totals. However, disparity in financial support between African-American and foreign students continues. The results suggest a rise in minority college faculty in the near future. (MSE)
