As Distance-Learning Boom Spreads, Colleges Help Set Up Virtual High Schools.
Carr, Sarah; Young, Jeffrey R.
Chronicle of Higher Education, v46 n9 pA55-A58 Oct 22 1999
Increasingly, colleges, universities, and companies are delivering high school courses over the Internet. Focus of these "virtual high schools" is mainly on advanced placement and college-preparatory courses in subjects that traditional high schools, particularly in low-income areas, cannot offer. The financing of such courses varies, and little has been done to assess their quality and effectiveness. (MSE)
