To Test or Not to Test? Campus Health Officials Grapple with Questions about Screening Students for Genital Herpes
Farrell, Elizabeth F.
Chronicle of Higher Education, v51 n45 pA39-A40 Jul 2005
According to the Centers for Disease Control, 17 percent of 20- to 29-year-olds are infected with genital herpes, one of the most common sexually-transmitted diseases in the United States. Because of lack or mildness of symptoms and the tendency to not test for herpes during routine medical exams, the disease can go undiagnosed and can easily be transmitted to sexual partners. Article discusses genital herpes testing as part of college student health exams and students' attitudes towards the disease.
