An attempt is made to understand the appropriate relationship among students, their parents, and their colleges, keeping in mind the changing legal landscape. It is suggested that parents must manage their legitimate concerns and expectations so as to respect the boundaries separating them from their children's independent college experiences and allow children to deal with the frustrations of college bureaucracies rather than looking to administrators for every answer.
