To Compete, South Korean Universities Step Up Use of English
Brender, Alan
Chronicle of Higher Education, v52 n17 pA40 Dec 2005
South Korean universities are aggressively promoting the use of English on their campuses and encouraging students to study English abroad, in a bid to strengthen their international standing and attract more foreign students. The South Korean government increased its efforts to attract more foreign students in 2005 by doing more overseas recruiting and further hopes to raise the number of foreign students studying in South Korea from approximately 17,000 in 2005 to 50,000 in 2010.
