The Million-Dollar President, Soon to Be Commonplace?
Chronicle of Higher Education, v53 n14 pB3 Nov 2006
This article reports the results of a survey conducted by "The Chronicle" that examined college presidents' compensation. The survey found a 53-percent increase in presidents' compensation. While the salaries do not have an eye-popping quotient as those of corporate CEOs'--whose median compensation was just over $6 million among the 350 largest US corporations--the steady upward march of higher education compensation has increasingly spread from private institutions to public colleges and universities. "The Chronicle" annual compensation survey covered 853 institutions or systems, which is 17 percent more than last year.
