From "Minority" to "Diversity"
Schmidt, Peter
Chronicle of Higher Education, v52 n22 pA24-A26 Feb 2006
Colleges across the US believe that they are in legal jeopardy if they continue to offer some services or benefits solely to minority students and are thus shifting their focus to serving the broader and more abstract goal of promoting campus diversity. As a result, the institutions serve fewer students from the minority groups that they previously had sought to help, a development that dismays some minority advocates, as well as those engaged in efforts to diversify certain professional fields.
