Transfer Students Apply to College, Too. How Come We Don't Help Them?
Handel, Stephen J.
Chronicle of Higher Education, v54 n9 pB20 Oct 2007
High-school students applying for freshman admission have at their disposal dozens of Web-based and print resources to help them sort through the process. Information on the Web is especially impressive. For students attending a community college, however, there is virtually nothing in virtual space to help them identify four-year institutions that admit transfer students. Print resources, while they do contain a bit more useful data, are still sketchy and incomplete on the subject of transfer admissions. In this article, the author describes the difficulties he encountered in his quest to locate information for community college transfer students, and sets forth a list of recommendations for the editors of college guidebooks, web sites, admissions, and outreach directors to consider.
