Graduate Applications from Foreigners Rise
Smith, Lauren
Chronicle of Higher Education, v53 n34 pA56 Apr 2007
In this article, the author reports on an annual survey on foreign applications to American graduate schools performed by the Council of Graduate Schools. The results suggests that while American graduate schools have continued to attract an increasing number of applications from international students, the rate of increase appears to be slowing. Despite recent gains, graduate schools have still not recovered from the drop in applications that followed the attacks of September 11, 2001. Results also indicate that the increase in applications has come primarily at universities that enroll the most international graduate students. Smaller institutions reported smaller gains.
