Playing with Your Child
Jones, Rose B.
Childhood Education, v80 n5 p272 2004
What is play? Many researchers have made numerous attempts to discover what play really is. In order to answer the question, a working definition of play must be found. If children learn through play, then it is of utmost importance that parents, children's first teachers, provide opportunities for play at home. Furthermore, parents need to provide an environment at home that includes games and toys that will support their children's play. And as the child will need a playmate, who better than his/her own parent? This article provides a list of recommendations for parents who want to engage in parental play with their children.
