Quality of Educational Settings for Four-Year-Old Children in England.

Examined the quality of different forms of care for 4-year-olds in England. Studied local authority and private day nurseries; assessed quality with the Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scale, child-to-adult ratio, and group size. Found that private nurseries had higher scores on ECERS, whereas local authority nurseries fared better on child-to-adult ratios and group size. (AA)
