Working in School-Age Child Care: A Descriptive Study.

Examined school-age care centers in Canada. Surveyed child care providers about their personal characteristics, training, wages, benefits, working conditions, and changes needed to improve care quality. Found that caregivers were mostly female with community college education, offered low wages and few benefits. Also found provincial differences. Found that school-age care providers and preschool caregivers suffered similar problems. (JPB)
