The Purposes of Nursery Education in the UK: Parent and Child Perspectives.
Evans, Pauline; Fuller, Mary
European Early Childhood Education Research Journal, v6 n2 p35-53 1998
This study explored child and parent perceptions of the purposes of nursery education. The study's theoretical underpinnings were ecological systems theory and phenomenography. Participating British nursery classes differed in openness to parents, buildings and resources, and styles of teaching. Findings suggested different adult and child perceptions of the purpose of nursery school within the different settings. (Author/EV)
