Changing Children in a Changing Society.
Chandler, Louis A.
Childhood Education, v72 n5 p294-95 1996
Examines factors contributing to changes in childhood. Care and supervision of children has declined, with survival skills substituting for protection, early concern with emotional issues, and premature sexual initiation. Parents rationalize abandoning authority as increasing children's independence. They deprive children of childhood, contributing to feelings of injury. Childhood should allow for gradual growth and trust in interpersonal relations. (KDFB)
