Critical Incident Reporting: A Procedure for Monitoring Children's Performance and Maximizing Progress in Inclusive Settings.
Gettinger, Maribeth; Stoiber, Karen Callan
Early Childhood Education Journal, v26 n1 p39-46 Fall 1998
Using a systematic storytelling procedure termed critical incident recording, a teacher-as-researcher model was implemented with staff in early childhood centers that include children with disabilities. The approach encourages teachers to conduct a critical analysis of children's performance and of environmental variables that contribute to children's progress. The procedure also contributes to teachers' professional development by encouraging reflection and thoughtful practice. (JPB)
