Bi-Directional Learning through Relationship Building: Teacher Preparation for Working with Families New to the United States.
Theilheimer, Rachel
Childhood Education, v77 n5 p284-88 Annual Theme 2001
Describes efforts of a U.S. teacher education program to help early childhood education students learn about working with immigrant families. Notes that weekly meetings between early childhood majors and fellow students who were immigrants to discuss children's books were an effective vehicle for generating conversations that led prospective teachers to understand different practices, belief systems, and life experiences.
